Layers

Select the appropriate submenu item to hide or show the background, paint, or object layer.

Magnify

Select the appropriate submenu item to enlarge (zoom into) or reduce (zoom out of) your document's display in the front most window.

Note: Teaching students the keyboard shortcuts Command + and Command - (Mac) or CTRL + and CTRL - (Windows) can be very valuable.

Grid

You can choose Show Grid to display a helpful grid on your canvas. The grid will help you align objects on the canvas. It does not print and can be hidden or shown. The Snap to Grid submenu item causes new objects jump to the nearest grid lines when those objects are drawn. The Grid Size... submenu item displays a dialog box that allows you to change the size of the grid.
