Arrange Menu

The items in the Arrange menu only affect selected objects in the object layer. They have no effect on the paint or background layers. You must select at least one object (and in most cases at least two) in order for the menu items to apply. You can select all the objects on a page by choosing Select All from the Edit menu or the contextual menu.

 

Alignment

Align Left

Aligns the left edge of all selected objects with the left edge of the leftmost selected object.

Align Right

Aligns the right edge of all selected objects with the right edge of the rightmost selected object.

Align Top

Aligns the top edge of all selected objects with the top edge of the topmost selected object.

Align Bottom

Aligns the bottom edge of all selected objects with the bottom edge of the bottommost selected object.

Align Centers Horizontally

Aligns the horizontal centers of all selected objects with the center of the collection of selected object.

Align Centers Vertically

Aligns the vertical centers of all selected objects with the center of the collection of selected object.

Stack Order

Each object on the object layer is arranged in an order from the front of the canvas to the back of the canvas. That order is called the Stack Order. You can change the front-to-back sequence of objects on the object layer with the commands below.

In this illustration, the yellow object has been moved one step forward or up in the stack order:

Move to Front

Moves selected objects to the top (or front) of the stack order.

 

Move Forward

Moves selected objects one position toward the top (or front) of the stack order.

 

Move Backward

Moves selected objects one position toward the bottom (or back) of the stack order.

 

Move to Back

Moves selected objects to the bottom (or back) of the stack order.

 

Grouping

Group

Joins selected objects into a single new object that can be selected, moved, and transformed together. You can select multiple objects by holding down the shift key while clicking the objects. You can select all the objects on a page by choosing Select All from the Edit menu.

Ungroup

Splits a previously created group into its individual objects.
