Social Studies Lesson Plans
Here are some lesson plans that address standards and integrate
technology and your curriculum.

Integration Scope and Sequence, though pre-dating Canvastic,
has dozens of K-5 lesson plans that integrate standards based curriculum
and publishing software. Canvastic will be an excellent tool for
many of those activities.

GeoDraw USA is a publishing project for
intermediate students that are studying the United States of America.
The student becomes a cartographer by first researching and then
adding physical and political information to a blank map. Full directions
are given for adding information on cities, rivers, lakes, mountains,
special features, borders, latitude and longitude, state flower,
state bird, state tree etc. The map can then be published independently
or added to report or presentation. Grades 4-6.
Personal Timeline has the students
create a booklet/timeline that depicts in pictures, text, and numbers
the 8 most important events in their lives. They describe these
events by drawing them, writing about them, and placing them chronologically
on a timeline. When the project is completed and printed the document
can be assembled into a fold-out book. This activity may take from
1-3 sessions at the computer and an assembly activity for the booklet.
Write a Book(let) is a generic
plan for publishing material in a booklet form. Publishing in this
form can make any curriculum integration motivating and useful.
Any content that has more than one part can be adapted to be published
into a booklet. These booklets do not require printing on both sides
of the paper!
